Doll House Room Decor: Sneak Peek

EEEEEPS! This is so so so exciting for me, even though it is only a sneak peek. Moving was a nightmare, but falling asleep in this room the past few nights made it well worth it. All of the planning definitely did not go to waste. There's a lot of details that still aren't all there yet, but what's included below is already exactly what I wanted. If you want to see the basic furniture items in my room, check out my haul post.

This is the mirrored chest that is currently holding my TV (until it's mounted on the wall). It's smaller, but very cute and holds exactly what I need: scarves, belts, jewelry. I also found that two tiered jewelry catch all at Target on sale for $10 and it fits perfectly with the aesthetic of the room.

Oh, this chair is one of my favorite pieces. It's not a stark white, which I actually like. It contrasts really well next to my bed, plus it's the best place to read or tumblr next to the window. I plan on getting a white or turquoise pillow soon, but I'm using my pillow from my last bedroom for now.

AHHHHHH! Here it is, the very focal point of the entire room. My bed complete with tufted headboard and ruffled bedding/shams. It's obviously the part I've fallen the most in love with. It's everything I hoped it would be and it's like sleeping on a bunch of clouds (feeling and looks wise). I also have that clear ball lamp with a mirrored base on top of my mirrored nightstand.

My walk in closet is seriously life changing. I've always just had a reach in closet and never knew how completely different it would be. I have my clothes organized by dresses, long sleeves, sweaters, jackets, jerseys, tanks, tshirts, jeans, shorts, etc. I also have some of my shoes displayed and the rest hanging in an organizer. I love walking in and feeling like Cher Horowitz or Hannah Montana while picking out what to wear. (Yeah, I just said that...) But seriously, it rocks.

Stay tuned for a full tour of the room when I feel like it's perfect, so don't hold your breath for it to come soon. haha. I hope you're all having a magnificent week. :)

The Shops at Target

For some odd reason my body woke me up at 5:30 on Monday morning. Of course I could not fall back to sleep, so I began to do a little online "browsing." I headed over to Target.com to find this:

Naturally, I clicked through to find some of the cutest items I've seen Target ever carry to be honest. It's a very cool concept actually as proven by the commercial. There are a total of five boutiques from around the country featured in this new collection:

Cos Bar - a cutting edge beauty palace from Aspen, CO
Polka Dog Bakery - a variety of doggie treats and accessories from Boston, MA
Privet House - chic and charming home decor finds from Warren, CT
The Candy Store - rare and unique sugary sweets from San Francisco, CA
The Webster - wonderful, bright and colorful clothing/accessories from Miami, FL

While I think that checking out each boutique on their own is an absolute must, I did pick out a few (hundred) of my favorite finds that I may just be ordering or picking up from my local Target.

Doll House Room Decor: Furniture Haulin'

We got the keys today!! We officially have a new house. We're moving in on Saturday and slowly, but surely all of the pieces of furniture for my room are coming together. I'm very excited. Here is a very small picture of my new doll house sized room.

I'm excited to share how I put everything together on a budget in a super small space! (10x10 anyone!?) The first post in this series of Doll House Room Decor will be this one and it's a furniture haul of sorts. I'm going to share the pieces that make up the foundation of my room. I was very limited space wise, but I found these to be my essentials to create a great place for me. I'm also including my bedding which I feel to also be a basic piece of my room.

(Glass Accent TableTarget)

(Blanc de Blanc HeadboardTarget)

(Puckering Comforter Set, Target)

(Versailles 3 Drawer Mirrored Chest, JC Penney)

(Brushed Chrome Garment Rack, The Container Store)

(Billy Bookcase in White, Ikea)

(Solsta Olarp Chair, Ikea)

As you can see, the mirrored and white theme is very prominent. I definitely was going for a very clean and romantic feel for the room. Also, there is no bed included in the above list because I'm keeping the same frame I currently have and just trading out the headboard for the new one from Target. The chest is definitely considerably smaller than what I'd like, but it will be used mainly for extra storage since I do have a walk in closet now.

I'm excited to put everything in there and see how my vision comes together. I definitely will be posting more on my blog about other aspects of my life, when there are other aspects haha. I've been seriously consumed by the new house, so once we're settled expect some other types of posts.

Bedroom Inspiration

Since my first post on moving, I've grown to accept the idea since papers are signed, furniture is ordered, and moving trucks are scheduled. It is very much a reality that is happening in a little less than 2 weeks. While I'm sad to leave the bedroom I've essentially "grown up" in through all of high school and college, I'm more than ready for a change.

Almost every free moment I have, I'm online pinning and researching bedroom ideas. From the beginning of the planning I've had a very clear vision of the end result. I was advised about how dangerous this could be because it can be hard to find exact pieces to mimic the look you want and the disappointment that could ensue. If you know me even a little bit, you know how stubborn I am. When I want something, I'm pretty determined to have it my way at all costs, even if my mom is trying to rein me in. I wanted to share a few of the pictures that have inspired my vision that I've been lovingly calling "Mirrored, Monogrammed, and White."

My key components:
  • White quilted/tufted headboard
  • Solid white girly bedding
  • Simple white desk
  • Mirrored night stand
  • Mirrored chest of drawers
  • Monogrammed shams
  • Somewhere to store all of my makeup
  • White ruffled curtains
  • Ghost desk chair
  • Rose colored or Tiffany blue accents
Yes, I'm really that picky. Now you can begin to understand why my mom is about to lose her mind at me because I'm not settling at all and quite frankly my budget can't even begin to cover what my crazy mind has concocted. Ideally, I want my bedroom pictures to be "Popular" on Pinterest just kidding...yeah sort of, my priorities are quite skewed when it comes to the place I'm going to be sleeping hahaha.

(P.S. If I happened to just randomly save the picture to my Housespiration folder on my Desktop, I won't have credit because most likely I found it on tumblr, but I do not take credit for any of the following:)

and my biggest inspiration as of recently:
I'm seriously obsessed with everything about it!

Office Loving

My free time is frequently spent on Pinterest and other blogs. Besides the obvious makeup and beauty product blogs, the next most frequented ones for me are home decor and interior design. There's something about a well put together living room that absolutely makes me swoon. As most of you know, I unfortunately still live at home. Besides having freedom, I really cannot wait to decorate my apartment and home one day. That's what I'm really most excited about. Once and awhile you'll see posts like this one showcasing really great interior design ideas, so I have one solid place for my favorite pictures one day when I need the inspiration.

Lately I've had a crazy desire to have an office. I truly have no need for an office right now, but there is something so elegant and fun about them. (I'm sure when I have my own bakery and I'm constantly in there doing paperwork, I won't think that.) I love really simple and classic designs with cute accents and colors.

These three pictures are from one office, Emily's, from Cupcakes and Cashmere. If you've never visited her blog, you must. She's fabulous. I love her style of home decor. It's all unique and different in each room, but together it's cohesive. These pictures are from her apartment tour with Apartment Therapy. I will also include some of my favorites I've pinned too.

I love love love Tiffany blue (Robins Egg Blue). It's one of the prettiest colors and I love the way it looks on the walls in this room with the white furniture. They pair perfectly together.

This color combination is so simple, but unexpected. I am dying over the bright pink desk. It's so great.

Again with the white furniture, haha. I love the picture frames on the shelves behind the desk and the really fun floral rug.

This desk is simply organized and the big whiteboard really is a great addition above the desk for easy viewing.

I love collages, so I was instantly draw to this one for an inspiration board of sorts. It would be really easy to brainstorm having a lot of pictures and clip outs pinned on there. Again a white desk. haha.

UGH. While this is only a desk, lamp, and chair, the setting is ideal. That view is to die and if I can't have a kitchen overlooking the ocean or water one day, it will be my office that has that spectacular view.

There are some of my office picks. I hope you enjoyed a peek into my decor style.
